Sucker Train Blues

It's way too hard to pick a song each day that means something so from now on the songs will be a random selection off my iPod (using the Music Quiz feature).

Yes, yesterday was Bon Jovi. I hate to admit it, but Slippery When Wet and New Jersey were two awesome albums. Today's song is only a year or so old so maybe some of you younger people (you know who you are) will have a chance. They are made up of guys that were all with other rock bands previously.

Bowling last night was interesting. First game I stunk and as a team we weren't much better, losing by about 100 pins. I had a whopping 160, only bettering one person (CB) by 2 pins. Our high game was only a 193 and we had 5 doubles. Then something odd happened. Starting the 2nd game we cut lose, doubling 18 times and crushing the other team (I had a 258). 3rd game continued to be more of the same as we had 16 doubles, hung the house twice and CB 3 times. Of course, he won the damn card game and got all his money back. We ended up going 5-2 and set 2nd high team series (just think if we had done anything the first game). Both 2nd and 3rd games we just missed getting on the board for high game. I finished with a 198 for 616.
The amazing part is that we had 4 of our 5 over 600, led by the Grinder's 632, then n1ce's 620, then me and Jimmy with a 601. CB had a 503 or something like that.

And I believe I have added another Guinness convert. Grinder decided to try it out last night and he bowled great, I believe he's sold. I'm sure he'll blog about the wonders of Guinness on his blog as well.

He also gave me a copy of a Lacuna Coil cd. I only got through the first 4 songs but have some impressions already.
1) Very powerful guitars
2) Not really the types of songs you sing along with
3) Sound is similar to Queensryche, not sure why I feel that way, just what came to mind.
4) Every song sounds the same... (but I've only listened to the first 4). I just couldn't tell where one ended and the next one started.

Later...

Lacuna Coil - sort of a Queensryche/Evanescence fusion.

They all sounded the same to me also but as I play it they seme to be gettign more different - I know exactly what you are saying though.

Velvet Revolver!

Grinder comes through with the Velvet Revolver call. Nice. For those unaware of Velvet Revolver, it consists of Slash and Duff from G&R along with Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots.

Who is Queensryche... sheesh, how do you answer that? From Bellevue, Washington, they were a power rock band in the 80's and 90's. I actually worked with a guy that grew up with the band members for awhile. Probably their best known album was Empire with songs like Jet City Woman and Silent Lucidity, released in 1990.

Fraley hunted in Montana with Scott Weiland

And I'm pretty sure he was the one that got Scott hooked on heroin too.

Actually there is more.....while they were hunting Robert DeLeo was with Fraley's wife....some believe she was the woman that originally brought DeLeo and Weiland
together!...she chose Fraley instead.....or so the story goes....

Wait, they were hunting DeLeo?
Is it true that Fraley came up with the name "Stone Temple Giros" originally because he was hungry but the DeLeo brothers, being big Richard Petty fans, really were stuck on the STP acronym and countered with Pilots instead?

Yep, I've checked out Brad's stuff...
I didn't mean there weren't any lyrics, just that they're not the type of songs that you would actually try to sing along with. Not sure I can really explain what I mean... I can't even tell if it's supposed to be dark, I can't tell what they're saying!
