Spinning Wheel

Today's song is a stretch to say the least but I heard it just before I parked and now it's stuck in my head. I think it does relate to my feelings about 24 this morning. What goes up, must come down... 24 has been riding a high, every week an awesome show. Until recently. I've lost that feeling about it the last few weeks.

It used to be that every episode of 24 would, at some point, cause me to say something like "Oh, holy fuck!" Not since episode one this season have I said that and quite honestly, the last 3 weeks I have been bored. What happened to Jack having to kill a ton of people while he's narrowly escaping death himself? Where's the cliffhanger!?!?! Each week of the first 4 seasons would always end with something super bad or exciting happening. Now? I can't even remember how last night ended. Can someone fix this please? It's not too late...

I didn't get much of a chance to relax last night. As soon as I got home I had to finish up on the powder room transformation. Cdubya took it all apart this weekend and painted it (Oak Moss green instead of the purple that was there) and I got the light fixture after work yesterday. I did that first, then a new oval framed mirror, hand towel ring, toilet paper holder, painting and some sort of aztec symbol thingy... By the time I got done it was almost 7:30.

Oh, KK got yesterday's song correct. It was Huey Lewis and the News. Which reminds me of a funny story. Way back in the day I was riding with my old man in his '81 blue Ford F150 and the song "I want a new drug" came on. I hear him singing along "I want a new truck" and I'm like "uh, dad, that's not how the song goes" and he says "what? what's it supposed to be?" I answer with the actual title and he's like "Well. I don't like that song any more then." I busted out laughing.

A-Dub these you are making these songs titles too easy. I remember back in grade school the Jr high Jazz band would come and play that song at our assemblies. We all thought that was cool and then they encouraged us all to sign up to play an instrument. I also have BS&T's greatest hits album, not CD but album. I think I got it at a garage sale for a 10 cents about 20 year a ago.
I liked the story about your dad singing the song. LOL that was great.

Yeah, I know, but not all my friends are as old as you! These songs are hard for those born in the late 70's (some 10 years after this song was popular).
I guess I should try something more recent since you're the only one playing...

LOL... Dude, I gave you a Destiny's Child one last week and you didn't even guess. I'll try to pick something no older than 1990.

The problem I had with 24 was that there seemed to be no time to relax - you KNEW that what ever happened this week would not get fixed.

It was always a train wreck around the corner. I started to lose contact with it. The constant adrenalin rush was no longer as "fun".

The magic was gone. so I thought I would take a year off.

I was getting the feeling that I HAD to watch it even though I wanted to do other things.

Hows that!

I guess those are the things I liked about it and feel are gone now. How much do I have to watch the first lady being weird? Is this show about her? I want some action. This year seems to be more about personal conflicts than fighting the bad guys. Let's get back to where the show started. 24 is no longer my favorite show... :(

I never got into 24 for some reason. Now I feel like I'd have to rent all the prior seasons to catch up. Like I couldn't just jump in. That's too much work for me.

Kind of like The Shield. However, that show I can just come and go with. It's soo damned good, but I just never remember to watch it every week. I need to buy all the seasons.

TV on dvd is my new crack.

I haven't seen the Shield yet but I have heard great things. 24, for me, was the ultimate guy tv show. Need answers? Shoot the fucker in the knee cap. Need to kill your boss to stop a terrorist? Put a bullet in his head. To me, Jack Bauer is the complete man's man. But now they're trying to turn the show into some sort of "let's develop the softer characters" thing and they're ruining it for me.
I've got the hookup for your tv/dvd/crack addiction. Netflix. They have everything. Watch a season, send it back, bam, you got another season. Shit, they even have old shows from the 80's you can watch.

Always been a little hesitant about NetFlix for some reason. Guess 'cause of mixed reviews.

Works well for us. Send a movie back on Monday, new one arrives Wednesday. We probably don't take full advantage of it but it's pretty cool to be able to search around for movies and old tv shows and just queue them up. Dukes of Hazzard should be arriving today, haha.
