No, not that kind of streaking. Our hockey team made it 2 wins in a row last night with a thrilling 3-2 victory. A back and forth game that saw me make a nice pass to my other wing for our first goal and follow that up with a nice pass to the other team for their first goal.
Off a faceoff in their end the puck went back towards our D slowly. I chased after it and took it around to the right as the defenseman (my friend Bill) slid to the left behind me. I thought it would be slick for me to slide a pass back to him, you know blind, behind the back type of pass… right to their fastest player and he was off to the races. I still can’t believe I did that. I would have been screaming at someone if they had done it but no one said anything (to my face that is, I’m sure there was some mumbling). I apologized and had 2 really good chances to get that goal back but was stoned by the goalie both times.
We ended up going ahead 2-1 only to see them tie it again. We finally scored on a breakaway with about 4 minutes left for the game winning goal.
And the Brewers beat the Cubs again and are only 2 ½ games out of first place and finally back above .500 for the first time since late May. Maybe, just maybe, they have a realistic shot at the playoffs. Of course, my saying that is a sure kiss of death.
