I'm very happy that Friday is over. The day started with a problem with my email management application hanging and took a long time to solve and we are going to production this morning so it was important to get it fixed. Turned out to be a stupid mistake on my part but it being my half day I had a 12:30 tee time to make. I ended up getting it all corrected by about 11:45 and rushing to the course.
From there it didn't get any better. I hit a very nice drive down the middle to start but then shanked 2 shots in a row, very odd one where they seemed to hit off the heel, spin the club face and go way right. I ended up triple bogeying. Not a good start but it got worse. I topped my drive on the next hole (par 5) then topped 3 shots in a row before I got the shanks back and hacked two more off the trees to the right. I finally ended up with a 10. At this point I was looking at the clouds, begging for a massive t-storm to knock me off the course. Unfortunately all my begging resulted in a steady rain but not enough to make us quit and I had to keep going. I hit a good shot on the par 3 but 3-putted for bogey then followed with two more triple bogies. It was sick. I finished the front 9 with a 53 after finishing the last 4 holes in only +3.
I started the back with renewed confidence only to have that dashed with a topped drive and triple/double start. I recovered to go par/birdie/par and ended up shooting 45 on the back for 98. Not good, but I think I know what I was doing wrong at least. The birdie I took was as close to an eagle as I've been. It was a 476 yard par 5 with a dogleg left around big oak trees. I hit driver and hit a nice draw around the corner leaving me 213 to the center of the green. I hit my hybrid 2i and hit a nice high draw onto the green within about 25 feet. My eagle putt was right on line but stopped about a foot short. I left quite a few putts short after 7 holes of rain.
My next tee time is 6:15am Sunday morning. Luckily I told the dogs last night that it was the weekend and we would be sleeping in and they actually listened and we slept in till 8:00 and they didn't bother us once! They got big hugs for that one. :) In fact, I'm going to go out looking for a new driver headcover like this one today.
