The follow up to last season's hot summer hit Rockstar:INXS kicked off last night and I can tell right away that it's going to be even better!
SuperNova is the band, made up of Tommy Lee from Motley Crue, Gilby Clark of Guns N Roses and Jason Newstad of Metallica. They are joined by top record producer Butch Walker and of course, Dave Navarro in deciding which of the 15 rockstar wannabe's will front them.
One thing I can tell you right away. It will be a chick. It was clear early on that the chicks' rocked while the boys were, well, lame... Outside of the australian dude that sang an accoustic Knockin' on Heaven's Door and the crazy fucker at the end that did Rebel Yell, the boys were totally pop, doing Goo Goo Dolls, Coldplay, etc. Do they think that's the kind of music this new band will do? I don't think so... One moron attempted to do Roxanne (a big hit done by Suzi McNeal last year and she killed with it) but this guy couldn't sing to save his life. As Gilby Clark so elequently put it, "Dude, that just sucked." He'll be gone tonight as the vote off show is on at 8:00 CDT.
As for the women, man, they were hot, crazy, tattoo'd, pierced, multi-colored hair, wild chicks that rocked the house every time. Hard to pick a favorite, they were all awesome in their own way. I really did enjoy the last singer, Jill, who is 4'11" but sings like she's 6'4". Huge voice doing Janis Joplin and she's not hard on the eyes either. I also loved the Puerto Rican girl, Kayra, doing Evenescence. She brought a different feel to a hard rock vibe. Again, easy on the eyes does not hurt one bit. Then there's the sweet Georgia peach with the great pipes. At 22, she seemed quite uncomfortable attempting to be sexy but there's no denying her talent. I just can't see her hanging anywhere near Tommy Lee (sequel to him and Pam?).
Tune in tonight to see that lame ass guy get sent home. I'm not even going to bother learning his name.
