Big storms last night but unfortunately they did not wash out golf league…
My neighbor and I video recorded ourselves at the driving range Monday night and I was amazed at how easy it is to pick apart your swing. I saw at least 4 things I considered to be messed up and I worked to try to correct them. Unfortunately shotgunning balls at the range is not the same as actually being on the course.
I started out with a gorgeous drive and should have quit right there. I hit a low screamer over the green on my second shot but saved bogey and made par on the next hole after a nice chip. Then it all fell apart. Popped up my drive into a bunch of trees and told myself to play the safe shot, punch back to the fairway and take the bogey. Unfortunately my punch was too hard and I flew over the fairway and one hopped into the weeds… lost ball. Took a drop, topped my next shot, then hit the green and 3 putted for a snowman… nice. Bogied the next hole then chunked my 8 iron on the par 3, missed the green again, finally chipped on, 25 feet past the hole, rammed my putt passed and missed the one coming back for a triple bogey 6. Par on the par 5 next hole then blasted my drive on the next one so far right I almost cleared the next fairway over. I was left with a shot where I had no idea what direction to hit or how far it was (or that there were still people on the green). I picked out a 5 iron and let it rip. I guess I had the line pretty well because the others in my foursome were like "Ooooh" and said I almost hit the other group. Ended up a couple feet from the green, chipped close and missed the putt after Dr. Mike reminded me it was a par putt. Sometimes I just hate that guy. :)
Anyway, I ended up shooting a crappy 49. Playing again tomorrow and Sunday.
Oh, forgot about the new toys I bought! My gas grass trimmer froze up on me a couple weeks ago and I had an electric blower that I always hated because I had to drag an extension cord all over hell. So, I bought a Black and Decker 18 volt battery powered set of 3 outdoor tools, a grass trimmer (weed whacker), hedge trimmer and leaf blower. It came with 3 batteries, and a mounting/recharging station, all for only $180. I used the trimmer and blower Tuesday night after mowing the back yard. Awesome. Not as powerful but for my yard they work just fine and I was done much faster.
