Sad Day in the Baseball World
No song today. Kirby Puckett passed away yesterday from a stroke he suffered on Sunday. He was 45. He was one of the truly fun guys to watch play the game. A lifetime .318 hitter, his career was cut short after only 12 years by glaucoma, which left him blind in his right eye. He will be missed.
I was all set to write about 24 from last night. It was really good, finally getting back to more action and cliffhangers. With Kirby's passing however, I just don't feel up to it.

It is a sad day, with Kirby gone. Shocking because he was so young. I didn't see any pictures of him but a guy at work said he saw some yesterday on the news and guessed he was pushing 300 pounds. I also read that he didn't take good care of himself after he retired.
Yeah, he was pretty fat. I've seen fatter though. Doubt that was what caused his stroke. He should have been playing more golf.
I never saw a picture of him. But like I told the guy he was kind of big to begin with so most pro athletes gain weight after they retire, look at Barkley. I agree, I doubt it caused it but I bet there is a family history of stroke.
I took a picture of him golfing in Cooperstown a couple of years ago and he has put on a ton of weight since then.
Kirby was my fav baseball player - I have his U-96 Fleer Update card. Pre Rookie.
Cost $75 15 years ago!
When Kirby was forced out of baseball because of Glaucoma he never really recovered and didn't take care of himself.
