This just in... the Packers still stink. Nice play Brett, um, we're wearing white and gold... were those tigers too hard to see? And the run past the line and throw it underhanded play is sooo last year. Someone please explain why I continue to watch? Is it because my alternative is Nascar?
So, Saturday was beautiful, went golfing at Hawk's Landing. Hit my 2nd shot into the trees and it was all downhill from there. Worst round in 10 years, at least. I didn't really care though. It was almost November, a gorgeous day and out golfing with my friends.
Had our 2nd hockey game of the season last night. We were a little short handed. I played defense the first and third periods and wing the 2nd period. I was definitely better than last week and managed a +3 and scored a goal. I was trailing a play when our center circled in the corner. I saw an opening and went for it and he put the puck on the tape and I someone managed to hit the far post and bank it in. Pretty lucky. I only made one big mistake on D, got caught watching the play and didn't pick up my man on the back door and he scored an easy goal. Oh well, I'm still learning. It sure is less strenuous back on the blueline than playing up front and this old body is liking that part.
Tried out a new restaurant Saturday night. It's called Johnny's Italian Steakhouse. It is over in the Greenway Crossing area in Middleton. It kind of wants to be a place where the rat pack would hang out. It wasn't bad, I had filet mignon and it was pretty decent. Cdubya's steak, however, was burnt to a crisp and tasted like shoe leather. I guess she'll learn not to ask for a sirloin medium well. They were nice and took it back and gave her a filet instead, only it was more like medium rare, a little too red for her tastes, but I gotta give it to her, she didn't complain about it. She thanked them and ate it anyway. I'll probably give it another try. They have a pretty decent sized menu and there were a few other things that looked appealing. It was about what you'd expect to pay for a decent steakhouse in Madison, $18 to $22 for the most part. Not sure how our bill came to $135... oh, we had tiramisu for desert! Yummy...

Pumpkin Coffee
Is there anything worse than being surprised when you take that first drink of coffee in the morning? My wife, who will be referred to as cdubya from now on, played a trick on me today and made pumpkin flavored coffee. Now, I'm all into flavored coffee's, I've been known to have a cup of Cinnebon flavored Seattle's Best in the afternoon here at the office, but the pumpkin is not a fan favorite with me. And to have that hit you at 6:45 am is a bit much to ask... So, I'm choking it down because it is coffee and I do need it but then I'm going to the cafeteria to grab some Starbucks after that.
Notice how I used 3 company names in that last paragraph? I saw yesterday after my post that I suddenly had Acura ads. I'm guessing I can get some better ads (and make more money when you guys click on them, don't forget that part!).
Looking at the sports page where the big story today is that Tony Fisher will be starting at RB for the Packers. Like that's news... Oh, but he got poked in the eye last week and had to have laser surgery???? Since when do you have to have surgery because you got poked in the eye? Next thing you know some dude will have to go under the knife to repair a hangnail.
And on Survivor last night... I wonder how many people spent the night throwing up after eating all that chocolate from the reward... One thing that always bugs me about Survivor is how they feed you stuff that makes things look one way then pull the rug out from under you. Case in point, last night, looks like a given that Amy will get voted out but they show all these conversations amongst the tribemates and it looks like they've all agreed Bobby Jon would go. But, when the votes come in, they all vote for Amy. CBS, please don't bias our thinking, show us what is going on!
Anyway, it's probably all the fault of my bald friend that works for the local CBS affiliate. Cdubya blames everything that goes wrong on CBS on him. Commerical cuts off part of the show, "Is he working tonight?"; they show the wrong video clip for a news story, "Is he working tonight?". I think she expects me to call him and make him fix it... haha.
Hey, everyone have a great weekend and be safe out there! As for me, I'm not passing up a 63 degree Saturday at the end of October, I'll be out at Hawk's Landing playing 18.

Shout out for the South Siders
Nice job by the White Sox to put away the 'Stros when they had the chance. I hate 4 game sweeps though, how boring is that? Wonder where the Astro bats went? No runs over the last what, 19 innings? Hard to win that way...
I actually stayed up to watch the end of the game this time.
Bowling last night was terrible. I'm gonna chalk it up to bad lane conditions and drinking. Carried 3 of 9 buried shots in game 1 for a whopping 199. Fell apart after that with a couple 160's for a 521. Needless to say if I'm bowling that poorly we got our asses crushed. Welcome to the team, Adam. I can tell this guy is going to be a dedicated bowler, he's asking guys on the other team for lessons (nooo, nobody on our team could help him... ).
I also tore one of my grips in my ball so now I have to go get a new one. One more task to add to my Friday afternoon to do list.
Rumor News!
The man on the street has heard a shocking rumor that Grinder was seen entering the Paradise bar in downtown Madison with a mysterious woman around lunch time. This has not been confirmed yet but Grinder is definitely the type that would hang around that sleezy dive... This man on the street is wondering if Grinder's wife is aware of these goings on.... stay tuned for further developments on this story!
Ok, time to introduce another new feature today. It is the Poll of the day! I will ask you a question, you give me your opinion. Couldn't be more easy than that.
Question today is:
I'm thinking of trading in my Scion tC for a small luxury SUV. No, the Subaru Forester is not in that category... Select your favorite from the list below (in no particular order) or write one in:
Infiniti FX35
Lexus RX330
BMW X3
Acura MDX
Gas mileage is not a concern at this point.

Stuff is haaard
Why is it that every time I try to do something that should be simple it turns out to be a major pain in the ass? Is it just me? Does this happen to other people?
I got an assignment yesterday to architect an emailing system for our web app. I just wanted to make a quick test project that sent messages to a queue where a message driven bean would pick them up and fire off the emails asynchronously. Is that too much to ask? So, I fired up Eclipse with the web tools project plug in and tried to create a simple EJB project and it gave me a stupid version error every time. Grrrrr............ Looks like there's a bug in the WTP plug in. I guess that's what happens with version 0.7, eh?
Ok, probably 1% of the population had any idea what I just said... :)
Let's go with something easier to comprehend, TV! Amazing Race was last night. Once again, it was so boring that I can't even remember who got eliminated or what they did. And yet, I continue to watch every week? Stupid? Lazy? You pick and let me know.
Boston Legal was funny as usual. James Spader doing his Music Man routine adapting it to sing about farm raised salmon, in a crowded restaurant was hillareous...
I couldn't quite stay up for the entire baseball game last night either. I went to bed and attempted to watch the conclusion there, but of course, we have the new bed and I fell asleep within 30 seconds.
Speaking of the new Select Comfort bed (shameless plug, maybe Google will pick that up and provide me some ads for them), the first couple weeks I wasn't sure I really liked it, but now that I have found my "number" (30, by the way, I like it nice and soft, wait, that doesn't sound right), I am sleeping like a baby. Lie down, out like a light, wake up when the alarm goes off. Amazing.
Well, back to architecting my bean... haha, that sounds funny.

DVD Collection Storage
So, it's like this.... I have about 230 dvd's in my collection now and when we started buying them about 6 years ago we decided to get a cabinet to hold them. Worked like a charm, until we hit about 200, then we ran out of space. You'd think we could find another cabinet that matched, right? Wrong...
So, I spent last night and part of Sunday putting together 2 4" binders and pulling every dvd out of it's case and putting it into binder sleeves. Finally got it done last night. Ended up creating sections with tabbed dividers so I can find them easier by genre. One binder has Action/Adventure, which by far has the most dvd's, and Drama. The other binder has Comedy, Animation, TV and Music. One thing I forgot about was that probably 60% of the dvd's actually have 2 dvd's in the case so for 230 movies I needed almost 50 binder sleeves at 8 per sleeve (400 storage places).
Anywho, now I can move the storage cabinet to the basement or something and all the dvd cases are in 3 boxes. Just what I needed, more crap in the basement.
While in Best Buy the other day I found Tiger Woods 2005 for my PS2 on sale (2006 is out now) so I picked it up. I love golf games and I won't pay full price so I've been waiting for the chance to pick it up on sale. Strange game play. Instead of the standard power meter style of play, you actually pull back on the joystick for the backswing and push forward for the frontswing. It took a bit of time to get used to. It has all the normal things like applying spin, hooking/slicing the ball, adjusting ball position, etc. It also allows you to create a player with every possible personal characteristic possible. Things like nostril size or eyebrow shape are all adjustable... Quite interesting. I am trying to make one that looks like me with my body shape and size. Man, he is one goooood looking dude! Only takes about 2 hours to create your player, haha.
Maybe some day I will actually play a round.

Defense ain't my thing, man
It's Monday, I'm tired....
Last night we started hockey league for the winter. I obliged my buddy who is our GM and agreed to play defense. Now, see, until this past summer I had never, ever, played defense in my life. In the summer, it was beginner league and I thought I'd try it out a few games. I did ok there, but again, that was beginner league, I had time to fuck around with the puck without some speed demon stealing it from me. Intermediate league is a whole different story. I felt panicked, screwed up hundreds of times, got totally deeked out of my pants by this kid... it was ugly.
But, there was a happy ending. We came from down 4-3 to win 6-4 and I managed to pick up an assist and despite being on the ice for 3 of their 4 goals, I was also on the ice for 4 of our 6 so that made me a +1! One of our other defenseman, Jeff, scored 4 goals. He's a lunatic. 6'100" or so and a laser slapshot. I think he could score whenever he wanted to but he's complaining about being out of shape and tired. He's 30 for shit's sake, how can he be that tired. Wait till you're 40 bro...
On Saturday, I continued my trend of bowling like an idiot followed by moments of brilliance. 205, 148, 254. How's that for consistent? In a 4 day span I had 4 200 games (including a 279 and 254) and 2 games around 150... All I can do is shake my head and laugh.

Judd's a slob
On last night's installment of Survivor (wow, I heard a Don Pardo voice in my head there), Judd proved to be one large ass munch. What an uneducated pig this fat ass loser is, but yet he does not get voted out because he's physically strong and helps them win challenges. Meanwhile his arch nemesis, Nurse Margaret, gets the boot despite her practically saving everyone the first few days. I guess Survivor, like life, isn't fair... Life's a bitch then you get voted out.
Went to the dentist yesterday to get a small filling repaired. What an enjoyable experience as usual. First he says he has to really numb it up because of the location so I get enough novacaine or whatever he shot me up with, to bring down a large water buffalo... then he's done in 5 minutes, which is kind of nice but makes me wonder why I need to be numb for 5 hours. Then once the numbness wears off it feels like someone socked me in the jaw and it hurts to open my mouth. And dentists wonder why people don't like them. And no, I'm not an anti-dentite!
And lastly, but not leastly, the Chiefs/Dolphins game has been moved up to TONIGHT! I believe a 6pm CDT start. They're trying to get it completed before Wilma (insert Fred Flinstone yell here) hits Miami.

Choker!
Oh my god, I typed out this really long post for today and right before I posted it I checked Outlook for a new email message and Internet Explorer crashed taking the post with it! Damn piece of shit. I hate Microsquish...
Ok, what I had intended to post was a long whine about how I blew a huge series at bowling last night. Here's the short version. I was hot, 229, 279 first 2 games, couldn't miss. 3rd game, fell apart, shot 154. Very angry... but we won 2 of 3 games so that's cool. Just wish I could roll back time and have a do over on the 3rd.
In happier news, Grinder shot a 258 the 3rd game for a 626 series, congrats go out to him.
Congrats also to the Astros for getting their first trip to the world series.
I'm currently in 5th place (out of 13) in our playoff fantasy pool. Good hitting, mediocre pitching... that's how my teams go all the time. Only good side to this is that one of my bald friends that got me into this is in dead last. Go CB, you rock! :)
By the way, you can tell it is cold outside today just by looking at the weather pixie... *wink wink*
In TV news, there is a rumor that Van Halen will be the band for RockStar on CBS replacing INXS (since they already have their singer). I had suggested this possibility when I first heard they might come back next season. Click here for more.

"Alias" not long for this world?
I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise that Alias is doing poorly on Thursday night opposite Survivor. ABC execs are obviously idiots, take one of the few good shows you have and move it to a place where no one will watch it. Awesome decision! Of course, if their main goal was to shit can it and they just needed a reason, mission accomplished...
Here's the thing I don't get about Neilson ratings. Most people I know have the ability to watch one show and record another. Hell, with tivo I can watch one show and record 2 others at the same time! Just because I'm not watching a show live does not mean I do not like that show! Case in point, we watch Survivor live because everyone talks about it the next day. But, we still love Alias and record it every week. TV people are stupid... there's my brilliant insight for the day.
Amazing Race Family Edition is proving to be fairly boring on a weekly basis and continued that trend last night. I think it's because it's a "family" thing the challenges are weaker. One thing I do know however, I hope that show never passes through Madison. They were in Sri Lanka 2 weeks before the Tsunami hit last year and were in New Orleans 2 weeks before Katrina hit this year. Obviously they bring the devastation along with them! Phil is the antiChrist! :) J/K
By the way, I believe my weather pixie is far more attractive than Grinder's. Plus I heard his was pretty slutty, not that there's anything wrong with that!

Tuethday
Sorry for the delay, I had a dentist appt this morning. They found I lost half a filling so I have to go back Thursday to get that fixed... bummer.
Our winter league hockey draft took place Saturday and my friend Bill drafted me onto his team so it should be a fun season. He has a strict "no-dicks" policy for drafting. Only good guys that like to drink beer. Which usually means we're a mediocre team but have a good time.
Are the Rams that much different without Bulger? That makes no sense, he wasn't playing defense... Why isn't Brandon Stokley scoring this year? Even without him scoring, my trade of Randy Moss for him and Stephen Jackson is looking better all the time, especially when you see Moss lying on the ground crying... :)
I attempted to watch 2 minutes of hockey coverage on OLN last night. OLN should stand for Overtly Lame Network... I miss the HD coverage from ESPN. Hockey is hard for me to watch on a 55" tv when it's not in HD. Guess I'm just spoiled.

Ratted out
So, Michael Bamberger, a reporter for Sports Illustrated is watching Michelle Wie on Saturday and notices that she takes a drop from the bushes that might be a hair closer to the hole than it should be... so you go off running to the officials whining about the drop and eventually getting her disqualified and costing her a 4th place finish worth $53,000? What a schmuck.
Having played golf for a couple hundred years, I can honestly say that a couple inches on a drop is not going to change the outcome of the tournament, unless she was to drop it on the green or something but that's not what this was about. The PGA and LPGA tours are so strict on the interpretation of the rules that it's bordering on Nazi Germany! We've seen players being disqualified for all sorts of stupid things completely unrelated to how they play the game. This is just stupid...
So, we go down to Eugsters Farm near Oregon/Stoughton yesterday because the wife likes to ride the wagon out to the field and pick her own pumpkins (read that as point to them so I can carry them). It's completely packed with people and we have to park 14 miles away and walk over. We get there and there's a big long line to get in. It looks like it's for the petting zoo, etc. so we try to just walk into the "go get pumpkins" area and are stopped by armed security (ok, just some woman) and told that it's $5 and we have to go through the line. Wife argues, but I've already started walking back to the car. What a waste of time. We end up at the Pumpkin Paradise off 51 a little south of McFarland and pick up like 8 pumpkins and 2 gourds for $23. Looks like we've found a new place and it's free and easy to get in and out of.
I then convinced her I needed to go to Best Buy. I've been wanting an LCD monitor for my computer and saw they had some. I ended up picking up a 19" Samsung 914v. It wasn't the best one there, Sony and LG looked like a better picture but I couldn't justify the $150 to $200 price difference. I ended up paying $330 and there's a $30 rebate (hate those damn things). She bought portable speakers with a docking station for her ipod at work. Sounds pretty good, but I guess it better for $130. At least she didn't demand the Bose one that's $300. I also got a wireless mouse for my laptop. I've been meaning to do that for a long time. Sure makes things easier.
Ok, better get working on this rainy Monday morning.

Unbelievable
So, while I'm off playing another horrible round of golf the Gophers are destroying Bucky... but somehow they manage to throw the game away, as a Gopher is likely to do, and the Badgers steal one. Quite a finish (just watched it on tivo this morning). There was no reason for Minn to lose that game, other than it's a typical Minnesota thing to do. :)
As for golf, I shot 93 and balderdash shot 100. We weren't much of a threat. No one really shot very well as 69 net won it. My 75 net was probably in the top 15. I did manage to win a skin with a birdie on the 13th hole after my wedge from 125 stuck 6 inches from the hole. Even I, the worst putter in the world, couldn't miss that one.
Looks like the wife wants to go out to the pumpkin farm today and pick out the same pumpkin we could get at the home depot, but with the added advantage of a 30 minute drive and wandering through a field... what fun.

Golfing with a buzz
Shot 95 yesterday... You know how sometimes having a beer can settle your nerves? Well, it's very easy to push that a little too far. I played horribly but most of it was in decision making, chipping and putting... all things easily influenced by alcohol. I think I'll be ok today. Tee time is at 10:24, I think I'll be fine. I am still crushing the driver like I've never done before. Just need to get the short game going.
Sorry about the formatting yesterday, it should be fine now. I think it was one of those things that was only apparent in Firefox (side note: if you're still using IE try switching to Firefox).
Not much else to say this morning. We caught up on all our tivo'd shows last night so maybe we can watch a movie or two this evening. Not even sure what I have left from Netflix.

Hockey Champions
Click it!
I now have Google Ads. After hearing that Grinder got $22 in 5 days I couldn't resist. Of course, he's WAY more popular than me and has charts and stuff, I can't really compete with that.
It'll be interesting to see what Google thinks my ads should be. So far it's baseball stuff, which is cool. I don't really have a consistent topic so the ads should constantly change depending on the content. Please click on them, if I get rich I'll buy you a beer! :)
Oh, I'd like to thank balderdash for his poem (???) comment yesterday, it was lovely. The kind of thing you'd see in a rest area stall... very nice.
74 in Madison today, I'll be teeing off with Dr Z at 1:00. Hard to believe it's mid October. Playing a warm-up round for the Ice Cube Open tomorrow (supposed to be 64, don't think there will be any ice cubes except in the cooler). Balderdash will be teeing it up with me in that (individual tourney though).
Last night was Survivor night. What a shock that Stephanie's tribe actually won a challenge! She has to be the most unlucky person ever... after the reward challenge in which her tribe got thoroughly whipped I assumed someone from them would be going home. Personally I like her a lot. She plays hard and she's not bad on the eyes, but I would vote her out the first chance I had. She's just bad luck... Can't wait for the Bobby Jon/Jamie show down next week, what great tv... hahaha. Oh, and can someone give Danni a burger for christ's sake, she's gonna blow away! (that's her over there -->)

Terrible Call
No way did that ball hit the ground. I mean, come on, if the catcher knows he caught it and rolls it back to the mound shouldn't the umpire just go with that? He can't see it hit the ground, has to go by the sound it makes and guess. Plus his strike 3 motion is the same as his out motion so how is everyone supposed to know that he was only signaling strike 3 and not the 3rd out? What a crappy way to end the game. Oh well, what would the playoffs be without some sort of controversy.

LOST update
Ok, so the "other" people on the "other" side of the island are not the official "others". They are just the "other" survivors from the "other" part of the plane. Phew, that explains a lot. And yes, Grinder was almost right, Rose's husband is with them, only he's a white guy, not the black guy. And what the hell, there's another underground bunker? Every time they answer one question they uncover 10 more, how frustrating! But they've got me, I can't miss an episode...
Other tv from Wednesday....
Anyone else watch e-ring? It's pretty cool, even if Dennis Hopper has to overact every scene. I'm becoming hooked. I'm still trying Invasion though it's sooooo slowwwwww... I may give up.
I didn't bowl last night, it was my "bye" week. Still waiting to hear how we did.

Commerical flipping aggravation!
First off, baseball...
I'm doing my best to flip to the game during commercials of the other shows we watch. Has anyone else noticed that most of the time when you flip to a game during a commercial that they are between innings!?!?!? How aggravating is that?
I was suprised to hear Lou Piniella on the broadcast. I thought we'd get some decent commentary but he was pretty dry, repeating the obvious most of the time. I guess he's only exciting when he's throwing bases around. Pretty sloppy play by the White Sox last night. I expect them to rebound with a good game tonight.
Playoff fantasy stats from last night:
Hitting - 3-15, 3 rbi's.
Pitching - 9 1/3 innings, 3 er, 7 hits, 0 bb's, 5 k's, L, Sv
Ok, my hitters sucked but the pitching did well. Contreras had a rough start and made a big mistake trying to turn two instead of getting the out at the plate, but settled down well.
Amazing Race
I'm not really getting into the Race this season. Maybe it's because it's all in the US or maybe because it's got boring families in it, I don't know. I do know I don't have anyone I'm pulling for. I'm mostly just looking for people to do stupid/funny things and rooting for the whiner-cry babies to lose.
Boston Legal
I hope everyone watches this show. I laugh my ass off every week. Shatner and Spader are an amazing team. Last night's episode was hilarious. They went on a fishing trip to British Columbia. Lying in twin beds in the same room, Spader is reading about a leech that attaches to salmon and infects them. He says they're called klingons... Shatner doesn't bat an eye, "did you say klingons?"
The wife wasn't feeling well last night and wanted to just lie down and watch a movie after work so we watched Sahara, which I had gotten through Netflix, oh, about a month ago. It was a pretty good, lively movie with it's share of funny moments and big explosions (two of my keys to a successful action movie).
Of course, this means I didn't do anything I was supposed to do last night. Oh well, I've got a free night tonight, I hope.

Baseball playoffs
Yay, the Yankees lost!!! I don't care for the Angels either but as long as someone beats the Yankees I'm happy.
I think the WS will be St. Louis and Chicago with St. Louis winning.
Now, I have to pick 3 players off each team to fill out a roster for a fantasy baseball playoff tournament. Not as easy as it sounds.
Fantasy Football news
Jerome Bettis was back last night for the Steelers in their win against the Chargers. I have him but of course, didn't play him (noooo, who needs touchdowns). I didn't think he would end up with 17 carries while stud Willie Parker only got 10. Guess I better put him back in the lineup.
After years of dominating our OFFL fantasy football league I'm now down near the bottom. I made a move in trading Randy Moss for Stephen Jackson and Brandon Stokely. Jackson has scored 3 times in 2 weeks while Moss continues to do nothing so I'm pretty happy with that one. I typically get screwed in every trade, football or baseball, so this is nothing short of a miracle thus far.

The Weekend
Well, another quick weekend has come and gone...
I see my master plan of golfing and not watching the Packer game has been successful. How in the hell did they score 52 points???? Too bad they don't have any running backs left now that Davenport broke his ankle. That was nasty! Time to rush out and pick up Tony Fisher in your fantasy leagues. haha
Speaking of golfing, shot a 90 at the Oaks yesterday. It sure was nice until it got to be around 4:30 or so, then the breeze turned it a little chilly. That was the last tune up before Saturday's Ice Cube Open at Door Creek. Playing that with "bald"erdash (nice name, loser).
Can't believe I got home from golfing at 5:30 and the Astros/Braves game that started at noon was still on! 18 innings, now that's a game. Of course, my wife was concerned for the fans since they most likely closed the concession stands about 3 1/2 hours earlier. Haha...
Saturday was couples league bowling night. I struggled to a 597 series. Can't seem to put anything together. And to top it off we got CRUSHED all three games. And to make it worse they only had 1 guy and 3 women because they're best bowler was out bow hunting. Thank god for beer...
2 more weeks before hockey league starts again... while I'm sure my body enjoys the time off, I miss playing already.
I think we may be tivo'ing too much. Seems like we're spending all our free time catching up on everything we recorded during the week. We finally got it down to one show (Friday's Threshold) and we'll be caught up. It's my week off for bowling league Wednesday so I'll be able to watch Lost and Invasion.
If you haven't watched last week's Lost, spoiler coming, avert your eyes...
Man, Lost has me going. I get so pissed that they are so slow to explain things but can't wait for the next episode. What's with Michelle Rodriquez? She was on the plane. She was in the airport bar with Jack before the flight. We know that much. Now she's working with the Others? Who are these people? And why did Jack push the stupid Execute button? Now they'll be stuck there pushing that button every 108 minutes... I would have taken my chances. What's the worst that could have happened? The island blows up? Who cares, they're all gonna die anyway!

My bald friends
Why is it that my two friends that have no hair call me a loser for creating a blog? I mean, come on, at least I have hair! :)
Well, last night was Survivor night. Unfortunately, it was one of the most boring episodes ever. Feeling sorry for the castaways they played a lame "challenge" where they gave out stuff like a shower or food. And then the "it's never happened before in the history of Survivor" moment... ooh, they changed up the teams. Big deal, they've done that lots of times. Then the immunity challenge. They didn't press them there either. Everyone get in a boat, row it out a little ways and pick up some bags. Then throw some clubs at a marker and break it. Ooh... the thing I don't get is why wasn't Gary Hogeboom throwing the clubs? Didn't want to give away his secret identity as Gary the landscaper? What intrigue.. yawn.
On a completely different topic, I received a 19" LCD monitor at work yesterday, WOW! That is awesome. Gotta get one at home. I've been trying to decide whether to get a new computer at home or live with what I've got and get a new monitor. So, I've done neither. I have a 19" CRT monitor now, but that's only 17" viewable (unlike LCD where 19" is 19" viewable), takes up all of my desk and weighs about 80 lbs.
On to baseball... is the Rocket out of fuel? He's looked pretty average lately. I mean the guy got beat up by the Brewers a month ago, that should signal the end for him. On the other hand Smoltz with a very gutty performance. He doesn't look right but busted his ass. I've got him on my roto team but I'm not sure if I should make him a keeper for next season or not. His shoulder injury worries me.
And hockey, is anyone watching? I hear the first night that the rinks were at 98% capacity. I find that shocking, did they take out two thirds of the seats? Anyone have any comments on the OLN coverage? I didn't get to see the game Wednesday due to bowling.
Football... Badgers at Northwestern. Should be a blow out but you never know in the big 10. I think the UW has shocked a lot of people this year, myself included.
As for the Packers... as if it couldn't get worse, they lose 2 lineman most likely and possibly a third and now have had to activate a practice squad WR to take Murphy's place. I've decided it would be a better idea for me to take advantage of a golf special during the game so I won't be watching. I sure do want them to win but it's becoming far too painful to watch.

Day 1
Wow, it sure is hard to find a name for my blog here at blogspot...
after 80 or so tries I just started typing stuff until it took one... hence the oddity of the url.
I don't know what my topics will be here, just random crap that comes into my head... like how I love sunflower seeds...
So, this thing is going, stay tuned for more interesting or not interesting topics like how I killed a fly today and put it on a stack of papers on my co-workers desk and told him he died of boredom.
Thursdays will typically involve a discussion of Wednesday night's bowling activities. We had a near brawl last night with a drunk (guy in the league) that decided he was "bein' disrespected bitch" by our league secretary for his suggestion that his team pay for bowling occasionally...
Hey, that's it for now, I got a job to do too you know!
Oh, I totally forgot to mention this. I picked up the Love Hammers cd titled Murder on My Mind yesterday. For those that have watched RockStar:INXS on CBS during the summer, it's Marty Casey's band from Chicago. Marty was my favorite on the show (he was everyone's favorite I think, he's freakin' awesome). Anyway, the cd is cool. They'll be opening for INXS on their upcoming tour. Not coming to Madison so far and I'm not driving to Chicago to see a bunch of old farts...
