Writing 101

I finally had a nice relaxing weekend, laying around watching movies, football, etc. It was nice to finally unwind, especially entering the busy holiday season where you never seem to be able to catch your breath.

After watching a couple movies (Benchwarmers and Brick) and then a horrible Packer game I decided I would finally start writing a story that's been in my head for a long time.

Back in the summer of '85 I worked on my uncle's shrimp boat and there were enough interesting things that happened that I always meant to write it and see how it read. I whipped out 4 pages very quickly. Amazing how the words just flew out on their own. I'm sure it reads like shit, but that's what editing is for. We'll see if I can keep up the momentum I had yesterday.

I had to stop writing because it was time to go play hockey! We had a rematch of game 1 where we lost 6-1. They have 2 players that can dominate so it took a total team effort to win 4-2 this time.

Saturday night was bowling. Once again I gagged a fairly easy 700 by blowing the 10th frame of the 2nd and 3rd games, ending up with a 667. I really do like the way the new ball is working. It seems to handle the oil very well. We won all 7 points too and are now back in the mix, maybe as high as 3rd place now.

adubya the writer, I like it. But when are you going to find the time?

I always said I should write a sit-com about my job I had years ago too. It was in a shop where they had a body shop, radiator repair business and towing business. They'd hire and fire people weekly. All the new hires would get their paycheck and go out drinking, then not make it into work the next day and be fired. The place had lots of characters, older to younger, from the boss to college students. Too bad I'm old and my mind is half gone to remember all the stories but every week something new would happen. The police would be there from time to time to arrest someone too.

that would be an awesome sit-com KK, you don't even need to remember the details, just the ideas. You should move to Hollywood immediately!

We both should retire early, move to Hollywood, then make some real money! Then buy matching red cars, dump our wives, have a few young hot upcoming babes for girlfirends, get tattoos, die our hair, and re-start a drug habit. Now that would be a storybook mid-life crisis.

re-start a drug habit? No idea what you're talking about!
I'm down with the rest though... :)

Oh man - now we can hear a minute by minute experience of adbubya vs. the Hurricane.

I can see the cover of the book. Remember the shot in Failsafe with the guy riding the A-Bomb?

Adbubya will be riding the Hurricane yelling YEEEE-HAW!!!

OOPS - did I just give away the ending?

Haha, I already have the cover shot, which is the only picture I have from that time. It's just a picture of the boat.

I'm approaching the book as self-deprecating humor in the first person. Kind of a "fish out of water" take.
