Almost got 300 number 2 last night, except for that stupid 10 pin.
The first game I struggled the first 5 frames before getting locked in. I ended up getting the last 5 strikes for a 215 and the 2nd game continued from there. I had the first 6 strikes when the lanes attempted to ice me.
Bowler before me is going up to bowl when the lane breaks down. Just completely shuts off and it takes them a good 5 minutes to fix it. He bowls then it's my turn, only the 7 pin fell over when the rack set the pins. Someone resets and it does it again. I try it one more time and same thing. There's a pin stuck in the rack that is causing the 7 pin to sit down sideways... We have to call that in again and once more I wait, thinking, wow, they really are trying to ice me.
Finally, the guy climbs in there, wrenches the pin out of the rack and restarts the setter and we're good to go. I go up on the lane and 2 steps into my approach a very loud booming voice comes on the intercom saying "Hey everyone, this is Billy from JJO. Be sure to come into the bar after bowling to have a Bud and see the JJO girls!" I'm in the middle of my approach and am thinking "christ, what the fuck dude?" but I keep going and somehow I manage to get a strike, pretty much to everyone's amazement. One guy was waiting for me to miss and go bezerk. I was able to laugh it off and keep going.
Strikes in the 8th and 9th have me set up for the 10th. First ball is right there for number 10. I'm getting a little nervous but hey, I've been there before, no biggy. I take a deep breath and let the 11th one go. It's right there, kaboom! 10 pin. Not even a wiggle. 6 pin goes whipping around it like an ex-con going past a donut shop. I pick up the spare for 289.
Had to fight hard the 3rd game for a 202 and 706 (my 4th 700 this year) as the oil dried up dramatically.
Back to Dream Lanes tonight to see if I can keep up my 225 average there. My last 5 series overall have been 652, 662, 670, 667 and 706 for a 223 average, all with the new ball.

That Damn 10 pin. You should have had them give the pin to you. That pin screwed you, it should be yours now so it can't happen again. You should have got your pin and shoot it or burn it or something. T-bone years ago bowled a 299. They gave him the 10 pin he left standing with a plaque on it saying 299. Anyway Congrats on almost another 300! and 702 for the fourth time, Wow, it would take me 6 games to have a 700 series and only if I was bowling well. :)
10 pin has cost me 4 300 games now. I've had one in the first frame and struck out, one in the 2nd frame and struck out and one on the last ball for a 299 like T-Bone, plus the one last night.
