We have this thing on Wednesday night's bowling team where if you do something stupid you get a "Bonehead Blunder" and at the end of the season you have to buy a pitcher of beer for each blunder you've made. It's fun and we even let guys screw up on purpose just to give them the blunder.
Last year good old Korey made it through without a single one. This year, well, it's a different story. He's had 3 blunders, by far the high on the team, up until last night. For starters he shows up right at the last second and gets no practice. Then in the 1st frame he goes up to bowl when it's Chris's turn. Seeing as how it's Christmas we let him off and stop him before he bowls out of turn. He never bowls 2nd, not sure why he was even up there. But in the 3rd frame he does it again so we let him go. He gets a strike, we laugh, give him and blunder and erase the score (he got a 9 on his real turn).
Then in the 2nd game he looks at his cards and declares "I have 6 cards." Another blunder. He could have just snuck a discard in and no one would have known but since he admitted it we had to give him another one. Next frame he picks up his cards and yet again, he has 6 cards. WTF? Decided not to give him another blunder but easily could have. He's up to 5 now, next closest is 1.
Chris decided to get into the act in the 3rd. First, he decides that he's up to bowl after me. Only problem is I'm the last bowler and he's 2nd. Doesn't really add up. Fortunately for him the other team catches it and stops him (to our displeasure). He couldn't handle that though so a few frames later he catches his arm on the straw in his Jack & 7 and tips it over. Guess he was determined to get that blunder after all.
But the worst blunder of the night was not even recorded as a blunder. I cost us the 2nd game. After striking on my first ball in the 10th we were down 9. I needed 10 pins in 2 balls to win the game. My strike ball came in high and I left the easy 4-7 spare. Now, backing up a little, I decided at the beginning of the night that I would shoot all spares with my plastic spare ball, hard and straight (that's what she said). I'd been doing pretty well with it all night. I pick up the spare ball and rocket it down the left side and it makes it about 2/3rds of the way down before it dumps into the left gutter and we lose by 1 pin. Stupid me... there goes our chance of going undefeated in the 2nd half. We won the other 2 games easy.
I ended up shooting 180, 226, 223 for 629. Back at it again tonight where I've shot between 665 and 670 the last 3 weeks. We are starting the 2nd half in that league too, after tying for last in the first half (I joined the team 3 weeks ago, filling in for a guy that had ankle surgery).

TOO funny - was there a full moon?
BTW - I think I know what ONE of my bowling problems is/was and you mentioned it. The gripping thumb thing.
I see us in 1st place going against Jesse the Moron in the finals.
No full moon, Buzz kept his pants on this time.
Maybe some day you'll actually listen to me and get better.
Great, a throw down in the finals!
